Independence announces extensions to COVID‑19 provisions
As part of their ongoing commitment to their clients and members during the COVID‑19 pandemic, Independence Blue Cross will extend many of the provisions put in place this year until March 31, 2021. In addition, Independence is providing updates on coverage for virtual health visits for fully funded clients in 2021.

Many of the provisions put in place this year will be extended until March 31, 2021. Independence will continue to cover COVID-19 diagnostic and antibody testing at $0 member cost share in accordance with federal and state mandates during the public health emergency, which is currently scheduled through January 21, 2021. Credit card payment option extended for consumer members
Independence will continue to accept credit cards for consumer premium payments through March 31, 2021. Fully insured customers with fewer than 500 enrolled employees will have the credit card option available only through December 31, 2020.

Virtual care coverage enhancements for fully insured group plans
Independence is pleased to announce that all 2 – 50 small group and 51+ large group plan members, regardless of plan design, will continue to have access to MDLIVE telemedicineservices at no cost until the group’s 2021 renewal date.
